Not an oxymoron. Everything we 'see' is in fact a reflection of our attitudes and beliefs which are shaped by our previous experiences. It's possible then for an experience (which at its basic level is stimulation of the senses) to be shaped by someone who is in a position to create the stimuli (see the "Believe Half Of What You See And None Of What You Hear" meme). A film-maker creates stimuli to evoke a desired emotion from the viewer. These efforts to shape public opinion have been practised through the ages. Most notably via religion for spiritual servitude and the press/media for political support. Think - TV 'programming'. In this new social media age, the major media outlets and other traditional institutions will have you believe that the world is represented accurately by what is shown via their mediums especially when there is a motive to control mass public opinion thus the creation of an illusion which is very real as a lived experience from the inside out until one is able to free their minds and look from the outside in.
